Eva-Dry Dehumidifiers
A dehumidifier is a type of household appliance that reduces the humidity in a specific area, and Eva-Dry is a company that focuses only on the manufacturing of dehumidifiers. Eva-Dry unlike many of their competitors focuses only on a specific niche in dehumidifier products. This niche includes mini-dehumidifiers and other very small dehumidifiers. Unlike some of the larger brands that have home dehumidifiers with buckets as large as 70 pints, Eva-dry only produces bucket sizes up to 20 pints or less.
Eva-dry is famous for their portable and lightweight dehumidifiers that are ideal for bathrooms, closets, and even bedrooms. The advantage to smaller dehumidifiers is that they make a lot less noise than their counterparts. This makes them ideal to either move around when necessary or leave in those places where humidity is constantly a problem, but a large dehumidifier would be much too unsightly.
The one down side to Eva-dry dehumidifiers compared to competitors is that their focus on small dehumidifiers means that they really do not specialize in basement dehumidifiers or really dehumidifiers that can cover more than about 500 square feet. So if you are looking to cover multiple rooms or looking to cover a large open space like a basement, you are much better off getting a large sized or medium sized home dehumidifier. That's not to be said that small dehumidifiers do not have their purpose as Eva-Dry dehumidifiers are certainly ideal for low to moderate dehumidification needs. In fact, people who live in regions where it only gets humid for a month or two like Canada generally prefer the smaller dehumidifiers as investing in a $200-$300 dehumidifier that they only use for one month out of the year is just not worth the cost.
Perhaps the biggest advantage of buying one of Eva-Dry's smaller dehumidifiers is that they cost only a fraction of what you would pay for the larger dehumidifiers. So you literally could buy 6 or 7 of these dehumidifiers in some cases for the same price as it would cost you to buy one large sized dehumidifier. Although having this many small dehumidifiers would be a pain to empty, it just shows you how much more you are going to have to pay for the large dehumidifier.
One other disadvantage of Eva-Dry compared to the competition is that their dehumidifiers do not put out enough dehumidification power to get humidity levels below 50% especially in humid markets. A vast majority of people will be comfortable at 60% humidity, but some people who like to have extra low humidity levels are going to be better suited by purchasing a larger dehumidifier.
If you are looking to pay around $50 for a dehumidifier that will handle your minor dehumidification needs such as a bathroom after a shower then Eva-Dry dehumidifiers are a pretty good choice. In addition, if you are looking for an extra quiet dehumidifier then Eva-Dry is also a good brand. However, these are niche dehumidifiers so you really need to be using them for one of these two purposes. For serious dehumidification needs or areas of the country that have high humidity levels for more than just a month or two require a more serious dehumidifier. As long as you are buying Eva-Dry dehumidifiers for minor dehumidification, they make a pretty good product.
