Frigidaire FAD704TDD 70-Pint Dehumidifier
There is no hiding the fact that Frigidaire is one of our favorite brands of dehumidifiers on dehumidifierreview.net, but we still try to give open and honest feedback based on the research completed. So we were super excited to hear that Frigidaire was coming out with a new model which they only release every few years. Well guess what? It is here, and we have some fantastic news for you. We absolutely loved the Frigidaire FAD704TDD 70-Pint Dehumidifier compared to the competition. What makes this dehumidifier so much different from previous models? Price.
We have long said that Frigidaire always makes a solid dehumidifier. But we have recommended other brands in the past for certain classes of dehumidifiers for the simple fact that Frigidaire has been known to charge $300 or more for certain models of dehumidifiers. However, this Frigidaire 70-pint dehumidifier can be found for less than $250 which is a nice change and makes it more of a competitive product against Soleus and Eva. Especially the discount brands have been known to charge $200 for a 70-pint dehumidifier, but in this case you can spend the extra $50 and get a very, very good brand.
Although it may seem unrealistic that there are no down sides to this dehumidifier, we have plenty of negative reviews on this site that you can read about so it's rare to find one like this. If you were going to be very nit picky you could say that you can slightly hear the fan running on the Frigidaire FAD704TDD 70-Pint Dehumidifier, but it is essentially the same noise that you are going to get compared to other dehumidifier models. So not to say that you absolutely should go out and buy this dehumidifier if you do not need one, but this is one of the much better models in the mid to upper sized home dehumidifier category. This model does have quite a bit of power behind it for $250 so make sure that the dehumidification power really fits what you need. Just as an example, you can get a 10 pint dehumidifier for $50 that can take your humidity level to around 70% in 300-500 square feet. But if you are looking to cover a basement or only want to have one dehumidifier per floor, then you will have much better luck with this model then most of the others on the market.
The best way to use this 70-pint dehumidifier is to attach a hose and drain it outside of the house or down into a drain as it has the power of a 70-pint dehumidifier which is generally much stronger than your typical small or mid-sized dehumidifier. This means you can have consistent 24 hour operation of your Frigidaire dehumidifier after a certain humidity level that you set. As is the Frigidaire standard, the controls are relatively easy to use. The dehumidifier is slightly heavier than other models, but that is just fine because it is backed by some serious dehumidification power. Before you go knocking any holes in your walls, just remember that a 70 pint bucket is pretty big as well. In fact, it can even be a bit difficult to carry if you are small. For the average size man or woman, this should still be fairly easy to empty though.
The Frigidaire FAD704TDD 70-Pint Dehumidifier is very similar to last year's brand except it looks a little bit more modern. It's unusual for them to come out with dehumidifiers back to back like this, but this one is definitely better than the previous model. You can still definitely tell that it is a dehumidifier, but it has gone away from the bulky look a bit which is also nice. It is still rather large which is a good thing because that means it holds a lot more water. Although attaching a garden hose is recommended, a 70-pint bucket is very large and should hold you off for a few days. Consistent operation will fill it up within a couple of days, but that would be only if you live in extremely humid areas. For those of us that live in moderate temperature zone you should be able to go a week or so before having to empty it which is much more convenient than those 25 pint models.
As with the quality you would expect with Frigidaire, it is energy star rated. Although this model has not been out long enough to truly stand the test of time in terms of quality, the sound and dehumidification output indicate that it is a quality model.
The Frigidaire FAD704TDD 70-Pint Dehumidifier is definitely within the top 5 dehumidifiers that we have reviewed so far. There are some other strong competitors out there that you might want to read up on if you are looking to save a bit of money, but this model really is quality. We expect to see it getting some great customer reviews as it starts making its way into customer hands.
