How it Works

The manufacturer claims it will work properly and without damage for several years. The user can place it within the case easily and count on it to work for an extended period of time.

Desiccant Regeneration

Another helpful feature of the Pelican 1500D is that has desiccant content with a reversible action. This means that once the canister absorbs all of the moisture the device can hold, it will indicate this by changing color from its standard blue to a bright pink. Once the user notices the change, the desiccant content is put into a traditional, conventional oven, according to the manufacturer's instructions. After this regeneration process, the canister is able to reabsorb as it did in prior instances, to its full capacity. The user can do this several times without limitation, creating a "forever" desiccant.

Protection Options

For those utilizing this particular device, note it is capable of preventing most types of moisture related damage, as long as the user monitors the canister to ensure the device is working properly. It can prevent against deterioration, corrosion, mildew, mold and rust in most cases. To work, the user must seal the case as good as possible, and ensure the case itself is moisture resistant. The tool will not work if air can enter the case and therefore is best for use with laboratory equipment, camera equipment, medical or dental instruments or tools that are in a strong sided box.
