Soleus CFM 40 Dehumidifier Review
This is a quiet dehumidifier that removes moisture from the air surprisingly well for its noise level. Typically with a dehumidifier that can suck up water this quickly out of the air you will get a much higher noise level which gets annoying fairly quickly. This is one of the best features of picking out this model as typically noise levels on dehumidifiers are a problem for dehumidifiers made by other brands.
In addition, this dehumidifier takes very little energy so can significantly cut down on your electric bill compared to competitors. Unlike other dehumidifiers in its class, it only uses 330 watts which is only the amount of a 3 light fan fixture. That's really not too bad considering the size of this machine. In addition, it will shut off automatically when the bucket is full so you may be able to save energy that way as well. This functionality is fairly standard in modern dehumidifiers, but it still a nice touch as some dehumidifier models have issues with the shutoff valve.
It has a 40 pint water tank so you should be able to leave this on for a few days up all the way up to a few weeks depending on how much moisture is in the room. It is already configured with a nose hole for easy installation of a water pump or hose drainage. Typically you can just buy a garden hose to go with this dehumidifier to make it easy to pump water out, but you can also use a black hose specifically designed for pumping dehumidification water as seen in the accessories section. It's a bit more, but the black is a lot easier to hide than the green that you get in a garden hose.
The price is very reasonable for what you get. You are getting a true medium sized dehumidifier that is perfect for home use. It can be used for a basement and can cover a fairly large room. It is an extremely popular model for Soleus and might very well be their best selling model so the price point is definitely acceptable.
There have been reports of slight overheating if run constantly without ever turning it off. Just make sure to keep this dehumidifier slightly away from the wall and it should have enough air intake to prevent overheating. This is typically a problem in areas that stay hot year round.
The Soleus CFM 40 Dehumidifier is specifically designed well enough to keep a whole floor in an average sized house to a comfortable 60% humidity. This is a fantastic model for new buyers and experienced buyers alike and you will notice how quiet it is from the very minute that you turn it on. This model is a good buy.
